Monday 7/12 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM New York Vintner's head chef, Christopher Meeker, will teach us how to make fresh pasta from scratch! We'll learn the differences between fresh and boxed pasta and then learn how to make our own fresh pasta at home. Each person will have hands-on experience making farfalle at the class and we'll learn how to make seven different pasta shapes. Throughout the event, we will sample five different Italian wines while a wine expert teaches us the origins of the wine, wine tasting tips, and pairing advice for wine and food. Volunteer with UGS: Sports and Recreation with Disabled Children
Saturday 6/12 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM Volunteer with Urban Girl Squad at Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN), a national, volunteer-led organization that provides one-on-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. At this event, you will be a "coach" to one KEEN program participant, or "athlete.” Your job is to help athletes take part in different activities (including sports, playing with scooters, jumping on trampolines, and designing arts and crafts projects) and have fun! Parks and Recreation Center 348 East 54th Street (between 1st and 2nd Avenues) Free! KEEN strives to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals. No athletic or coaching experience is necessary! Before the session, there will be an orientation where you will receive a profile with details about your athlete’s abilities as well as a guide to helpful coaching techniques for your particular athlete. You’re going to be active, so make sure to wear sneakers and gym attire! |
